Server Not Showing in the Server List
Common Causes and Fixes
If you can't find your server in the Rust server browser, work through these checks in order.
1. Enable the "Show Empty" Filter
Rust hides servers with zero players by default. In the server browser, make sure the "Show Empty" checkbox is enabled at the bottom of the filter options.
2. Check the Correct Tab
- If your server runs without Oxide — look in the Community tab
- If your server has Oxide/uMod installed — look in the Modded tab
Installing Oxide automatically moves your server from Community to Modded.
3. Are You Running the Right Client?
Make sure you're running Rust, not Rust Staging Branch. The staging branch connects to a different set of servers.
4. New Server? Wait 10-15 Minutes
After first starting a new server, it can take 10-15 minutes for it to register with the Steam master server and appear in the browser.
5. Try Direct Connect
Press F1 in Rust and type:
client.connect YOUR_IP:YOUR_PORT
If this works, your server is running fine — it's just a browser or filter issue.
6. Check for Version Mismatch
After a Rust update, your client may be on a newer version than the server. The server needs to update too. If the server hasn't updated yet, it won't appear for updated clients.
Still Not Showing?
If none of the above helps, open a support ticket and include your server IP and port. We'll investigate.
