Welcome to Your Rust Server!
Congratulations on your new Rust server. This guide walks you through everything you need to do after purchase.
Step 1: Check Your Email
After payment, you will receive an email with your server credentials:
- Panel URL — The link to your game panel
- Username — Your email address
- Password — Your panel login password
- Server IP and Port — What players use to connect (default Rust port: 28015)
Step 2: Start Your Server
- Log into your game panel and select your server
- Click Start on the Console tab
- Wait for the server to generate the map — first startup takes several minutes while the world is generated. Do not restart during this process
- The server is ready when you see connection-related messages in the console
Step 3: Configure Your Server
Go to the Startup tab to customize:
- Server Name — What appears in the server browser
- Map Size — World size (default 4500, smaller = better performance)
- Seed — Determines the map layout. Change for a different map
Important: Monthly Updates
Rust updates on the first Thursday of every month (forced wipe day). On this day:
- All servers must wipe their maps
- The server needs to update before players on the new client version can connect
- If you have Oxide/uMod, it may take hours to days for a compatible Oxide update to be released
Next Steps
- Install plugins — Check our Oxide installation guide
- Set up RCON — Manage your server remotely with our RCON guide
- Add admins — See our admin guide
