Understanding Server Startup Variables

Game Panel Guide · 7 views · Updated 58 minutes ago

What Are Startup Variables?

Every server on the game panel has a Startup tab with configurable variables. These control how your server starts — things like the game version, server name, map size, memory allocation, and game-specific settings.

How to Change Startup Variables

  1. Go to your game panel and select your server
  2. Click the Startup tab
  3. Find the variable you want to change
  4. Edit the value
  5. Restart your server for changes to take effect

Common Variables (Across Games)

  • Server Name — The name shown in the server browser
  • Server Version — Which game version to run
  • Max Players — Player slot limit
  • Server Password — Password required to join (leave blank for public)
  • EULA (Minecraft) — Must be set to true
  • Oxide (Rust) — Set to 1 to enable Oxide/uMod
  • Map Size / Seed — Controls world generation

Important Notes

  • Some variables override config files — if you change a setting in both the Startup tab and a config file, the Startup variable usually takes priority
  • Invalid values can prevent your server from starting. If your server won't start after a change, revert to the previous value
  • Variables are server-specific — changing one server does not affect others
