Migrating Your Server from Another Host to AgilaHost

Game Panel Guide · 4 views · Updated 4 hours ago

Overview

Moving your game server from another hosting provider to AgilaHost is straightforward. The process involves downloading your files from the old host and uploading them to your new AgilaHost server.

Before You Start

  • Purchase your new server on AgilaHost with the same game, version, and server type as your old server
  • Do not start playing on the new server until migration is complete — starting it will generate new world files that you will overwrite

Step 1: Download Files from Your Old Host

  1. Log into your old hosting panel
  2. Create a backup or compress your server files into a .zip or .tar.gz archive
  3. Download the archive to your local computer

The key files you need depend on the game:

  • Minecraft: world/ folder, server.properties, plugins/ or mods/ folder, and any config folders
  • Rust: server/ folder (contains world saves, player data), oxide/ folder (plugins, configs, data)
  • Valheim: World files (.fwl and .db files)
  • Project Zomboid: Save folder, server.ini, mod configurations
  • Terraria: World files (.wld) and player files

Step 2: Upload to AgilaHost

  1. Log into your AgilaHost game panel
  2. Select your new server
  3. Stop the server if it is running
  4. Connect via SFTP (recommended for large files) or use the panel Files tab
  5. Upload your files to the correct locations, overwriting the default files

Step 3: Verify Settings

  1. Check the Startup tab — make sure the game version, server type, and other variables match your old server
  2. Start your server
  3. Check the console for errors
  4. Connect and verify your world, players, and settings carried over

Common Issues

  • Version mismatch — Make sure the game version on AgilaHost matches your old server exactly. A version difference can corrupt or fail to load world files
  • Different server type — If your old server ran Paper and the new one is set to Vanilla, plugins will not load. Match the server type
  • File permissions — If files fail to load after upload, try restarting the server. The panel will adjust permissions on restart
  • Missing mods/plugins — Make sure all mods and plugins are uploaded, not just the world files
