Welcome to Your 7 Days to Die Server!

This guide covers setup after purchasing your 7 Days to Die dedicated server.

Step 1: Check Your Email

After payment, you will receive your game panel credentials and server IP/port.

Step 2: First Start

  1. Log into your game panel and select your server
  2. Click Start
  3. First startup generates the world and can take up to 30 minutes for Random Gen worlds. The console will show generation progress. Do not restart during this process
  4. The server is ready when you see "GameServer.Init successful" or similar in the console

Tip: Navezgane (the pre-made map) starts much faster than Random Gen since it does not need world generation.

Step 3: Configure Your Server

The main config file is serverconfig.xml in your server root. Key settings:

  • ServerName — Name shown in the server browser
  • ServerPassword — Password to join (leave blank for public)
  • ServerMaxPlayerCount — Max players
  • GameWorldNavezgane (pre-made) or RWG (Random Gen)
  • WorldGenSeed — Seed for Random Gen worlds
  • WorldGenSize — Map size for Random Gen (e.g., 6144)
  • GameDifficulty — 0 (Scavenger) to 5 (Insane)
  • EACEnabled — Easy Anti-Cheat (true/false)

Ports

7 Days to Die uses:

  • 26900 (TCP + UDP) — Game port. Both TCP and UDP must be open
  • 26901-26902 (UDP) — Additional game ports

Verify all required ports are allocated in the Network tab of your panel.

Important Notes

  • 7 Days to Die reached version 1.0 in June 2024 — it is no longer in Early Access/Alpha
  • Random Gen world generation is CPU and time intensive. Larger world sizes take longer
  • The web control panel (ports 8080/8081) should be disabled if you do not use it — leaving it open is a security risk
