How to Update Your Minecraft Server to the Latest Version.

Understanding the Update Process:

Pterodactyl panel relies on the official Minecraft server download links. Whenever Mojang releases a new Minecraft server version, it's reflected in the available options within Pterodactyl.

Here's how to update your Minecraft server to the latest version:

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Stop the Server:
    • Log into your Pterodactyl panel.
    • Navigate to your Minecraft server.
    • Stop your server.
  2. Backup Your Server (Optional but Recommended):
    • While not strictly necessary, creating a backup can be a safety net.
    • Navigate to the "Backup" tab of your server.
    • Create a new backup.
  3. Delete the old server.jar file
    • Go to the "FILES" tab and look for the old server.jar file
    • Delete this file
  4. Update the Server Version:
    • Go to the "Startup" tab of your server.
    • Locate the "Server Version" field.
    • Ensure the word "Latest" is input in the text field.
    • Go to Click "Settings" then click the "Reinstall" button.
      • The reinstall button does not delete any file. It will simply download the latest server.jar file based on the version you want.
  5. Start the Server:
    • Once the reinstallation process is complete, you may now start your server.
