## Why Open a UDP Port?
Opening a UDP port allows players to connect directly to your Project Zomboid server, improving performance. This is particularly important for larger servers.
## Steps
- **Contact Support:** Open a Technical Support ticket (/tickets/create) to request a new UDP port
- Once allocated, go to the **Startup** tab in your panel
- Set the **STEAMPORT** to the port our team opened for you
- Restart your server
